The need to express myself creatively is the strongest desire that lives within me. Those moments between "Action!" and "Cut!" feel like flying. It's almost addictive. Just Out of Reach: Richard TuttobeneRichard Tuttobene – Film Composer

Visit Richard's website for more info on his work. Also see his Internet Movie Database page.

Just Out of Reach: Internet Movie Database

Raised in Rochester, New York, in a family of professional musicians, Richard Tuttobene began his music studies at the age of 5 at the Hochstein School of Music and later continued on to classical piano studies at the Eastman School of Music. Richard began playing the local club scene at the age of 13 and almost immediately became one of the busier players in town, which afforded him covert entrance into clubs like the Pythodd Room where he first saw Miles Davis and The Roundtowner where he first listened to the legendary Bill Evans. Richard later became the protege of the great pianist and composer Warren Bernhardt who was also a Bill Evans protege. Rochester was also rich with classical music as the home of the renowned Eastman School and the Rochester Philharmonic, and Richard took advantage by attending every rehearsal and concert that he could, hearing everyone from Copeland to Bernstein.

Richard went on to build a successful career as a studio pianist in New York City, as well as touring with major recording artists. Having fallen in love, as a child, with composers like Stravinsky and Prokofiev and the film scores of Maurice Jarre, Erich Korngold and Bernard Herrmann, in 1988 Richard expanded his focus to composition and scoring for film and TV.

He scored episodes of America's Most Wanted, Another World, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, and others. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1992, where he has scored over 300 live-action episodes for Nickelodeon, including six seasons of All That, all episodes of Kenan and Kel and The Amanda Show and other TV productions. Among his numerous film credits are Boilermaker (2009), Unstrung (2009), The Shipment (2001), After Image (2001), Jennifer Is Dead (2002), and My Body (1997), which won the Filmmaker's Audience Award at the AFI Fest in 1997. He is currently working on an experiential theatrical and musical work for stage and screen and a musical show with "a unique format."
