Pete Kelley, Director of Photography and cameraman

I have over 25 years of professional experience as a camera operator/ Director of Photography, primarily in the video tape genre of film and television production. I have extensive production experience, particularly in the one-on-one and interview field, having worked for Junket Productions, the pioneer company in the creation and production of Press Junkets, as a freelance cameraman and lighting director for 20 years. My experience on stage and remote productions is also extensive. I have all the resources for complete television production at my fingertips, from cameras to lighting and crew.

I grew up in Akron Ohio, the third son of John P. Kelley. I attended Firestone High School 1973-1975, where I played on the soccer team and studied art, photography and film production. After high school, in the summer of 1975, I attended a Pre-college program at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Rhode Island, continuing my study of art. While at RISD I concentrated on photography and oil painting. In 1976 I attended University of Miami, Miami, Florida, in the Film production department and then transferred up to Ithaca College, Ithaca New York in 1977 to further study film production and art. I Graduated with a B.S. in Communications / Film Production from Ithaca College in 1979.

I began my professional career in film and television production in 1978, while still in college, as a camera operator for commercials and short documentaries covering automobile racing for such companies as Citicorp and Anheuser Busch. In 1979 I moved to Southern California to become 2nd Director, co-writer and an editor of "Fast Company," television's first Racing magazine format show from 1979-1981. 2nd Director, writer, editor, camera operator "Circuit", feature documentary on Paul Newman's Can Am racing team, 1981-1984. Camera operator 1984 Olympics; Yachting. 2nd Director, camera operator "Dorf Goes Racing" (Tim Conway), 1988. Camera operator, "Dorf's Family Stump" (CBS),1988, "Dorf on the Diamond", 1996. I have been a camera operator and 10 years as lighting director for Junket Productions. Press Junkets include; Universal, Miramax, Paramount, MGM, New Line, Fine Line, Fox, Sony, Focus, 1986-2006. Credits include; commercials, infomercials, trailers, features, sports and entertainment.

I have recently begun shooting short films with upcoming filmmakers. Credits include "The Neighborly Thing" and "Is One of You Eddie," by Michael Simon, the dance video "Hands Up" with singer Jordan Leigh and a short project entitled "Blue Highway."

I'm currently shooting "Just Out of Reach" in Los Angeles with Screenwriter and Director Andrew J. Traister and Co Producer Joanna Perry-Folino (see also "The Silence of Bees"). Watch the teaser on our Home Page.
